Population, more than this country can bear!

I always wonder about the land I born. How this part of earth is living for more than five thousand years and has set up a different paradigm of living, seeing life and evaluating its values. Like Swami Vivekananda said, west goes by the concept of 'karma', like doing things to get more things, whereas this land goes by the concept of leaving possessions, or 'tyag'. How is 'tyag' different from 'karma' (not the karma that means 'you get what you do')? Going by karma, one is always looking for something more for his life, whereas by tyag, one is practicing to live with the least he has.
For more than five thousand years of history, Indian part of this planet has always been full of resources, both natural and human resources. Many emperors came and looted. Nadir Shah looted Somenath Temple for more than 17 times coming from thousand of kilometres away. The temple must have had staggering wealth that was worth to be looted 17 times from such a long distance in those past days of walking infantry and Himalayas in between the way. Many people have come and never gone back and stayed for rest of their generations. Our land was productive. It let its people to live with ease, with happiness and the containment in their lives.
No wonder we have been growing in numbers, particularly since the 19th century, and in the 20th one, especially following our independence and with the economic boom the world collectively had, let this country have an exponential growth among its inhabitants. For a very long time we had enough resources to feed ourselves. But for the last 2 decades, no longer we belong in that ease of living, There is always a scarcity of resources, this one or that. We have to work extra for the same we used to get. That 'extra burden' is making a whole of a difference. And we are not a situation to deny it, particularly, during possibly the worst government we are having. Poor government policies, tax structures, creating an environment of hate, downgraded political tactics coupled with corruption making the whole scenario worse than it should be. Financial disparity is growing fast. Market is much less affordable, making the poor poorer. Struggle to get a job, have a business and afford basic human needs have become way more expensive than they used to be. This country with its 130 crore people is gasping.
Having a large family used to be a social security for the poor and less literate population. It is unlikely that an educated family would go for 4 or 5 kids. In a poor and uneducated family, where more children means more sources of income would not mind having 5 kids. Poor education system and negligible amount of investment in education policies is one of the reasons governments over the years did not take care of. Amidst scarcity of jobs, things are grave, probably so grave that will take away more than one decade of economic growth of this country.
As a result, everyone in the flock is trying compete for the same resource, or job, or seat in the college. The competition is huge, and there is always a greater portion of people having to live with a 'failure'.
The sense of not having something considered 'basic human need', a sense of 'failure', immense pressure of competition and a future that does not look so bright making a gigantic population to live with poor expectations, despair and depression, and downgrading the overall morale. That is the basic requirement of a success of hate politics, making a population fight amongst themselves, and diverting from the vision of sustainability and prosperity.
